Lowell begins as favorite

The Class of 2014 and '15 ruled the 2013 state wrestling meet at the Class 3A level, and defending champion Lowell had the most success among that group.

Two seniors: Josh Cardwell and Lincoln Casarez; and one junior: Tanner Harvey; were champions last year, and they prepped for the wrestling season with a visit to the state football finals at 1A in November.

Culver, which had won all six Class 2A wrestling titles before last year, returns two champions: senior Bolt Alglen and junior Tucker Davis.

Prep wrestling goes LIVE

So, who's the team to beat at Class 2A?

Is Jefferson the team to beat in the Class 5A ranks among wrestling teams?

The Democrats may as well be - at least this early in the season.

With news that the Hermiston program has lost a number of its standouts, the Demos have a chance to move toward the top of the state ranks. That'll be one of the topics tonight during the first episode of Tuesday Night Wrestling, a live webcast that will be recorded from the Jefferson High practice facility. The room will be in action, but with young athletes from the junior program. publisher Cliff Pfenning will host the program, and be joined by Jefferson coach Montral Brazille.

The webcast can be seen on, and a social chat room will be available to communicate with the hosts.
